Looking at this picture I see one thing that will drive any fisherman crazy and that is seaweed! Not only is the seaweed in the ocean but there is so much that it is now filling the marinas and intracoastal waterways.
Trolling this week was a complete nightmare from the beach all the way out to the swordfish grounds. There were little areas where you could actually fish, but they were few and far between. Pictured here you see that we did catch a few bonito and got lucky with a few keeper mahi. After shagging grass off our baits for hours we decided to drop down for snapper. The plan worked out and yes, we put a decent catch together, but we sure worked for it aboard the "Lisa B". We actually targeted swordfish for several days this week, but we did not even have a bite so if you are going to venture offshore, please give us a call and we will give you an updated fishing report for swordfish. As of Wednesday, there were several anglers off Miami that had multiple swordfish and the Keys bite for swordfish was excellent. We're hoping that this push of fish will move north, and we will be seeing swordfish next week off Hillsboro and Port Everglades.
Please be advised of the afternoon storms are rather intense.
