Bottom fishing looks like the ticket with an ocean full of seaweed.

Pictured here is Corbin Buckley with some big mutton snapper from a trip earlier this week. It looks like the tax man "shark" got his part of the meal. These are 10 and 15 pound mutton snappers which are beautiful fish for this area. We have had fantastic reports from anglers fishing on the reefs for bottom fish. The best of the snapper fishing has been in 120 feet of water and anchoring the boat. Most anglers use a three-way swivel to a lead and a 30 foot piece of fluorocarbon leader 50 pound test to a 6/0 light wire circle hook fished on a live bait such as a goggle eye or dead butterflied ballyhoo.

The boats that were trolling this week really had a rough time with seaweed as it covered most of the ocean out in front of not only our inlet but Palm Beach to Miami. Hopefully we see receding weed amounts this week. There was several reports of blackfin tuna being caught before dark, which might be an option with the 100° heat that we have had. Just remember we are getting into the time where the bad storms blow up in the afternoon so address yourself accordingly by watching the radar.
