What a great time to get out fishing!

What a great time to get out fishing!

As we officially enter into the summer months, we will be greeted with some calm seas. We will have our normal afternoon thunderstorms, but for the most part, this is the time when you can really look forward to fishing both locally and in the Bahamas. Pictured here is a catch from a charter aboard the "Lisa B" out of the Nauti Dawg in Lighthouse Point. It was fantastic to see some big blackfin tuna caught on the troll. These big tuna ate the planer rigs. In the summer months, you will notice that lots of fish will bite better down deep away from the hot surface temperature. The kingfish were also snapping, which is a great sign because this fishery locally has been dismal for a couple of years. Bonito which are on the forward part of the table are beginning to show up which will bring other fish to the area. The swordfish bite offshore has been excellent as well with several fish up to 400 pounds being caught. Chris Nelms aboard the Sweet Emily boated a 390 pound swordfish early this week. The seaweed has been unpredictable as one day it's bad and the next day it clears out. With the hot temperatures, we anticipate having to deal with seaweed most of this month. The fishing is great, so it makes it worth it.
