Giant swords caught locally while Bahama mahi bite fires.

Pictured here are two great catches over the last few days. Locally the swordfish bite has been red hot with Captain Ryan Goldman boating a 561lb swordfish with locals out of Hillsboro inlet. Lisa B also caught three swordfish over a two day span during their swordfish clinic. Six anglers traveled from all over the states to participate in the event with the goal of not only catching but learning. Bonito was the bait of choice this week for the Lisa B. The sword bite will continue to be good for a few weeks as the bait schools seemed to have increased on the sword grounds.
Nearshore the bite was mediocre with a few sails and smaller sized wahoo. Most of the week we fished with a south tide and some dirty water, causing relatively slow fishing
Earlier this week, I traveled to Chub Cay in the Bahamas to fish with the Sempre Duro, a 68 foot Ricky Scarborough custom boat. We had several sailfish bites and the mahi fishing was excellent! Catching big mahi really shows that the Bahama Marlin season is underway. The tournament season has started and boats are starting to travel if you are planning to travel to the Bahamas now would be a good time all the way through July.
