As I am writing this report the weather actually looks promising for the weekend. That being said be sure to check the weather before you venture out. The wind has really been fluctuating not only in direction but in strength. It's one of the jobs where you can be constantly wrong and keep your job. Pictured here is a group on the "Lisa B" with some vermilion snapper. These fish are caught in 200 feet of water and are excellent eating. As you are trolling you can keep an eye on your bottom machine as these fish will school up. Simply put a mark on you gps and you can target them at the end of the day to put meat in the box. The vermilion snapper is our go to when fishing is slow.
Last week I made a mistake by saying that the blueline tilefish was open. What I meant to say was "golden" tilefish is opened. Do not fish for blueline tiles as it is closed.
We will be heading offshore in search of swordfish this weekend. Historically, some of our biggest fish are caught in the month of January so we are looking for a big fish this weekend. Mark Sheuring and crew out of Lighthouse Point caught a fish last week just under 500 pounds. A bonito taco was used to close the deal.
