Pictured here is the Joinville family with a couple of nice fish caught on a charter a few days back aboard the Lisa B out of the Lighthouse point marina. Fishing has been consistent all week as catches of wahoo, mahi-mahi, kingfish, and swordfish all hit the dock. We are definitely in a transitional time as it is evident with some of the northeasterly wind patterns. We are coming into a time when we will see rougher sea conditions, but very good fishing. The wahoo and mahi bite were excellent between 300 and 500 feet of water this week and most boats caught fish while trolling. Boats fishing inside of 150 feet of water were catching plenty of kingfish and snapper. John Michael Lavergne out of Lighthouse point caught a 300-pound swordfish early this week and he said that anglers fishing around him all had fish in the boat! This is a great sign as the fish are staying in our area. We mentioned last week that we have a migration of bait locally which is keeping fish here hopefully will for several more weeks. As we are in this transitional time, be sure to check the weather and always inform somebody at the dock what time you will be returning to port. Northerly winds will generally create rougher seas in the gulf stream, which can be several miles offshore so if you are venturing way out, please be cautious with the north winds.
