We caught plenty of fish and plenty of seaweed this week!

The amount of effort that went into catching these fish aboard the "Lisa B" on the table was giant. We were clearing seaweed off the lines all day during this six hour trip. One saving grace is Capt. Mark Danley's weedless trolling baits that we fish on top of the surface. You can skip right over a clump of seaweed and not get grassed up as we call it. The problem is that the planers catch tons of seaweed down below. We constantly have had to slow the boat down a bit to clear the weed. That being said, the fishing was pretty darn good most of the week with catches consisting of tuna, bonito and kingfish.
Farther Offshore, the swordfish bite was pretty darn good! We took a couple of guys who flew in from Hawaii to catch their first sword. We cashed in the chips on our first drop of the day and had a 100 pound fish in the boat at 8:30 AM. It doesn't get much better than that! While we were stemming the current waiting on a bite, we had several mahi-mahi swim up to the boat. These mahi were in the 10 pound range. If you are heading offshore keep an eye out for wood floating within the weeds. It seems as if the mahi we really only hanging around weeds that has floating debris in it.
